Banda Aceh (Aentenews) – The Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) helped evacuate a Philippines’ sick female crew, identified as Arante Faenielle Emerald from her cruise ship on Bengal strait upon the ship’s request.
The cruise ship was sailing from Port Klang, Malaysia heading to Hambantota, Sri Lanka, head of the Basarnas office Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said on the weekend.
Emerald (38) was then rushed from the Mein Schiff 6 cruise ship to Zainoel Abidin hospital (RSUZA) in Banda Aceh, said Al Hussain.
“The ship’s captain contacted the Basarnas’ local command post asking for the evacuation of the sick crew,” he stated.
The evacuation team using KN Kresna ship reached location of the cruise ship of about 5.8 nautical miles away from the Ulee Lheue port in Banda Aceh in effort to pick up the sick crew.
After assuring that the sick crew was free from the infectious disease, she was then taken to the hospital for the medical check, the official noted.
The rescue operation personnel consisting of among others officials of the Customs office, Immigration, Navy, including the shipping agent.
