Japanese reseachers to develope oilpalm plantation reserch in Aceh

Nagan Raya,Aceh (Aentenews)– A team of Japanese researchers met with Nagan Raya District head, Teuku Raja Keumangan in the Indonesia’s westernmost province of Aceh and the researchers wished to  develop the research on oilpalm plantation in the region.

The Japanese researchers, Dr. Yuta Hara, assistant Professor of Tohoku University and Dr. Kenji Nagasaka, the Tohoku Professional Agriculture and Forestry University, over the weekend, expressed  their commitment to joinly improve the research with Aceh’s Unsyiah University and the National Innovation Agency (BRIN) on the oilpalm plantation.

Results of the research will become tangible contribution especially for oilpalm plantation in the region, the Nagan Raya district head, Keumangan quoting Dr. Yuta Hara as saying.

“We hope, results of the research will become a scientific recommendation and beneficial to  support plantation development,” Yuta Hara said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kenji Nagasaka said his team decided Nagan Raya as the research location due to its huge potentials for plantation purpose.

The Nagan Raya regent also highly appreciated the Japan’s Tohoku University as well as the researching partners over the scientific recommendation for the oilpalm plantation development. 

In addition,  Keumangan also thanked the Unsyiah University and BRIN as well as all parties who had chosen Nagan Raya as the research location.

Keumangan said further that oilpalm is one of prime movers of the Nagan Raya community’s economy. 

Therefore, its development must be based on research and be environmentally conscious, he added.
