Aceh, UEA explore cooperation on tourism

Banda Aceh (Aentenews) – The Indonesia’s Westernmost province of Aceh and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have explored cooperation on tourism development particularly at the Weh Island in Sabang municipality regarding it’s potentials as one of main tourism destinations.
“When I meet with ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdulla Salem Al-Dhaheri in Jakarta on May 25, we discussed about the development of marine tourism, eco-tourism and their infrastructure,” Aceh’s Vice Governor, Fadhulullah said.
The friendly meeting which took place in the UAE’s premises in Jakarta also discussed about an exploration on environmental affairs and the sector of energy.
Fadhulullah said further that Aceh has a wide range of potentials on natural resources, renewable energy and tourism sector which can be developed in cooperation with the international partners.
Aceh’s vice governor also expressed the importance of international collaboration in effort to support the sustainable development in Aceh including forest conservation and the Mount Leuser ecosystem as one of the lungs of the world.
Apart from the environmental conservation, both sides also discussed the cooportunities for cooperation in the energy sector and the community economic empowerment.
The Aceh provincial government also hoped that its partnership with UAE would lead to the opening of investment and development program heading to direct impact for the community welfare.
Recently, Aceh governor, Muzakir Manaf, popularly called Mualem, in his meeting with the UAE ambassador on Tuesday (April 27) agreed to establish team in a bid to explore cooperation on investment, trade and flight affairs, according to Aceh provincial spokesman, Nurlis Efendi.
The team begins their activities starting May 2026, Efendi said, adding that the meeting took place in the ambasador’s residence in Jakarta.
Aceh province shares borders with three countries namely Malaysia, Thailand and India (through Andaman and Nicobar Islands) . Aentenews by Bus
