Aceh Besar (Aentenews) –- Hundreds of people in Aceh Besar district in the Indonesia’s Westernmost province of Aceh, performed the so-called “istisqa” prayer asking for rainfall from Allah (God almighty) where the district has been facing the drought since the past several weeks.
The Istisqa prayer which took place at the yard of Babussalam mosque in Gampong Lamkunyet lately, was also participated in by Chairman of the Aceh Besar District’s Ulema Consultative Council (MPU), Tgk. Muhibuddin.
While the congregational prayer taking place, rainfall happened, marking the local people’s dream came true. However, they continued performing their prayers.
“If the rainfall continues to occur, it would certainly bring good impact to the poeple’s economy. Therefore, let’s continue performing this prayer in order to get rainfall,” Muhibuddin said.
Since early morning, people coming from different villages including teachers of Elementary school and students came to the mosque yard and prayed hoping for the rainfall.
“Let’s perform prayer together, in order to get blessing rainfall from Allah for our country,” Muhibuddin said, adding that many ricefields suffered from drying out and cracking.
Muhibuddin also requested the local poeple to strengthen their faith.
Aceh province shares borders with three countries namely Malaysia, Thailand and India (through Andaman and Nicobar Islands) . //Aentenews by Bustanuddin.
